Branding
& Logo Design
Ash & Ember is a local cigar and pipe shop located in Siloam Springs AR. They are unique in a one-of-a-kind shop that markets more than just products, but a lifestyle. They sell a wide arrange of products with their main focus being tobacco products such as pipes, tobacco, cigars, lighters, and more. But they also sell fun products that any guy would like, such as old action figures and comic books.
As a kid, my brother and I would explore the town after school and oftentimes would go look at the toys and comic books as we talked about Lord of the Rings with the owner Joe Gibbons. When the project came around where we had to choose a local company to redo their branding I knew instantly the company I wanted to choose. Given my past history with this business and my fascination with the aesthetic they sell, I knew it would be the perfect re-branding project.
Inspiration
When researching the idea and aesthetic I wanted for this project, I wanted to capture the ideal customer and consumer that would buy from this shop. This led me to rustic and earthy textures and tones to match the tobacco being sold to the 'linen gentleman' as I like to call him. This is reflected in the mood board to the right.

Logo Process
After finding the look and feel I wanted for the re-brand, I moved on to the logo creation process. This started with multiple thumbnail sketches and ideas, that would then be refined to the ten rough ideas seen to the left.
Refined
After critique with my professor and peers, I selected the top 4 logos (5, 6, 7, 9), reworked, and refined them to create the 3 updated logos to the right. This included taking the critiques I received and polishing them up through combinations and expansion on the original idea.

Final
The process of critique and refining was then repeated to create the final logo combinations shown below.
